Description

The Senate Department for Economic Affairs, Energy and Enterprises, European Structural Fund Promotion Division is the public authority responsible for the implementation of ESF+ in the Berlin region in Germany and manages the implementation of the Programme ESF Plus 2021–2027 Berlin. The Operational Programme revolves around three central thematic areas:

  1. Education, with a priority to increase permeability in the education system and educational success for disadvantaged people, as well as to improve strategic planning and support at transitions
  2. Social inclusion with the priority to combat poverty and social exclusion
  3. Securing skilled labour, with the priority to ensure more gender equality, increase labour force participation and secure the demand for skilled labour. The strategic focus of the programme is reflected in a pronounced financial concentration: 35% of ESF+ funds are earmarked for supporting youth employment (Youth Guarantee), another 4% for combating child poverty and 25% of ESF+ funds are earmarked for supporting social inclusion.
