Public consultation on the EU budget: Have your say!

The European Commission has launched a public consultation to gather views on the future of the EU budget. The consultation is part of preparations for the next multiannual financial framework, which will start in 2028.

The Commission aims to create a simpler, more focused and responsive budget that reflects European strategic priorities. This is one of seven public consultations currently launched by the Commission, covering key policy areas such as cohesion policy, agriculture and home affairs.

The EU budget will shape funding opportunities for skills development, training, and upskilling across Europe. By participating in the consultation, Pact for Skills members can help ensure that future funding priorities support the Union of Skills, including the Pact, and address labour market needs.

Who can participate?

The consultation is open to all interested stakeholders, including EU institutions, national, regional and local authorities, recipients of EU funding, businesses, small and medium-sized enterprises, civil society organisations, academia, the media and international stakeholders. Citizens from EU Member States and associated countries are also invited to contribute.

How to submit your contribution

To have your say on the future of the EU budget, complete the online questionnaire by 6 May 2025 (midnight Brussels time).

The questionnaire is available in all EU languages, and you can submit your responses in any EU language.

Following the consultation, the Commission will analyse the responses received and present its proposals in 2025.
