A new initiative is set to revolutionise the skills landscape for the cultural and creative industries (CCIs) in the Basque Country, Spain. Under the umbrella of the Pact for Skills initiative of the European Commission, the Regional Skills Partnership (RSP) KSIgune is spearheading efforts to bridge the gap between education and industry demands, with a focus on upskilling and reskilling for the digital age.
KSIgune, established as the Basque Cluster for Higher Education and Research for CCIs, is a collaborative effort between the Basque Government and Euskampus Fundazioa. Its primary goal is to identify and address the evolving needs of the Basque CCIs sector, ensuring that education and training programmes align with industry requirements. The RSP is supported by the European Commission as part of the Pact for Skills initiative, aimed at mobilising stakeholders and helping them work in partnership to implement skilling actions. The new RSP comprises over 30 partners, including employers, public authorities, industrial clusters and training providers.
One of the key objectives of the KSIgune RSP is to develop a comprehensive training plan tailored to the digital, green, innovative and entrepreneurial skills crucial for success in the CCIs sector. This plan will encompass various educational pathways, including lifelong learning, postgraduate programmes and in-house training, to cater to both aspiring professionals and the existing workforce.
In the context of the Pact for Skills, KSIgune commits to several strategic actions. These include fostering collaboration among stakeholders to enhance training capacity, identifying and implementing new educational models, and strengthening knowledge transfer between academia and industry through initiatives like the KSIgune Connections Programme.
Moreover, KSIgune is poised to extend its reach beyond regional borders by connecting with other European regions facing similar skills challenges. Through alliances like the Euroregional Green Audiovisual Hub, KSIgune aims to facilitate cross-border cooperation and knowledge exchange between the Basque Country, Navarre and New Aquitaine.
What are the Pact’s Regional Skills Partnerships?
RSPs are collaborative initiatives designed to address skills gaps and promote workforce development at the regional level. RSPs bring together diverse stakeholders to devise and implement strategies for enhancing skills and employability within specific regions. These partnerships can operate within a single Member State, span across multiple states with shared economic ties, or unite different regions facing similar skills challenges.
By fostering cooperation and coordination among key actors, RSPs play a crucial role in advancing the objectives of initiatives like the Pact for Skills, ultimately contributing to the prosperity and competitiveness of regional economies.
