8 new Blueprint Alliances tackle skills gaps in industrial ecosystems

At the end of 2023, the Commission launched an Erasmus+ call for proposals for the implementation of Blueprint Alliances, aiming to address skills mismatches across a range of sectors. The concept of Blueprint Alliances stems from the 2016 Skills Agenda for Europe, expanding sectoral cooperation on skills. Following the call, eight innovative projects have been selected in sectors ranging from health to renewable energy.

BRIGHTskills and the Xpanding Innovative Alliance (XiA) both focus on enhancing the health industry. BRIGHTskills aims to tackle urgent emerging skills gaps through upskilling and reskilling efforts while fostering resilience and innovation. Similarly, XiA seeks to close the skills gap in digital health by educating healthcare professionals and organisations to meet new standards for the European Health Data Space regulation. Meanwhile, SMARCO aims to bridge digital and cybersecurity skills gaps in smart communities with the goal of building resilient, sustainable urban environments by upskilling public administrators and ICT professionals.

In the renewable energy sector, RESkill4NetZero is dedicated to reskilling the workforce to meet the growing demand for green jobs, with a focus on developing a scalable skills framework while Skills4EII addresses the skills needed for the energy-intensive industries, contributing to the sector’s transition towards decarbonised production.

Targeting the agrifood sector, AGRIFOODSKILLS is committed to upskilling workers in areas such as artificial intelligence and future foods, while RESIZE reshapes competencies in correctional services. Lastly, Construction Blueprint 2 focuses on creating new strategies and training programmes to develop the skills needed for the construction sector’s green and digital transitions.

Each project represents a forward-thinking approach to tackling Europe’s evolving skills challenges.

Dedicated project homepages for this new generation of Blueprint Alliances will be available online from the start 2025.
