Description

Several authorities are involved in the implementation of the ERDF in Latvia. These include:

  • The Ministry of Smart Administration and Regional Development responsible for the ERDF priorities under the EU Cohesion Policy Operational Programme  2021-2027  "Balanced Development of Regions", which aims to enhance the administrative capacity of planning regions and municipalities in promoting entrepreneurship, improving local government administration efficiency, integrating territorial development in response to demographic and climate change, and improving public participation in development planning and implementation. This includes enhancing knowledge of civil society as a resource and its contribution to territorial development, as well as implementing smart solutions for local government administration.
  • The Ministry of Education and Science responsible for the ERDF priorities under the  EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027 "Education, Skills and Lifelong Learning", which aims to strengthen the development of learners' innovation, technology, and creativity skills and to ensure a learner-centred approach in line with the needs of the sectors, including the regional perspective; identify relevant skills for the labour market and introduce them into education for a sustainable, digital, and green economy; organise  skills competitions at national and international levels and support talent development.
