Overview

Objectives

The overall objective this call aims to achieve is to enhance the European global role in the area of sustainable bio-fuels and  increase the potential to export European renewable fuel technologies into global developing markets, as well as to improve sustainability of biofuel value chains worldwide while supporting the EU goals for climate change mitigation in 2030 and 2050.

Activities/actions supported

Proposals should aim at fostering international cooperation to develop best practices and concepts along the entire value chain for accelerating the scale-up of sustainable biofuels worldwide. More specifically, activities to be funded should address systemic constraints and opportunities for scaling up complete value chains of sustainable biofuels and propose solutions. 

Anticipated outcomes

Project results are expected to contribute to some several outcomes, including building global knowledge for the scaling-up and the sustainability assessment of sustainable biofuels value chains; contributing to cost-effective and more sustainable large-scale production of sustainable biofuels; accelerating capacity building for sustainable biofuels in the world; and developing networks for skill development and knowledge sharing in sustainable biofuels value chains worldwide.

Conditions

Overview of eligibility criteria

To be eligible for funding, applicants must be established in one of the eligible countries (i.e., EU Member States; Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs) linked to the Member State; as well as non-EU countries associated to Horizon Europe). Moreover, Any legal entity, regardless of its place of establishment, including legal entities from non-associated third countries or international organisations (including international European research organisations) is eligible to participate (whether it is eligible for funding or not),provided that the conditions laid down in the Horizon Europe Regulation have been met, along with any other conditions laid down in the specific call topic.

Overview of award criteria

Project proposals will be assessed taking into account the following three criteria, for a maximum score of 15 points:

  • Excellence (up to 5 pints)
  • Impact (up to 5 pints)
  • Quality and efficiency of the implementation (up to 5 pints)

The threshold for individual criteria will be 3 points, while the overall threshold is 10 points.

In order to be considered, proposals must:

  • Be submitted electronically via the Funding & Tenders Portal using the forms provided directly in the electronic submission system. 
  • Include a plan for the exploitation and dissemination of results including communication activities, unless provided otherwise in the specific call conditions.
