Just Transition in the European Automotive Industry – Insights from Affected Stakeholders

This report, develop as part of the European Climate Initiative, begins with an overview of the automotive industry in Europe, including key regulations, new technologies, and the visible and expected employment effects of these changes. It then follows with the four key gaps that will need to be addressed through Just Transition policies: the geographical gap, the skill gap, the time gap, and the attractiveness gap. For each gap, it provides suggestions for how industrial policy, regional development, social protection schemes, and stakeholder participation can tackle arising challenges.
