The International Labour Office (ILO) developed this paper to serve as the basis for discussions at the technical Meeting on the Future of Work in the Automotive Industry (Geneva, 15-19 February 2021). The paper begins with an overview of the current state of play in the automotive industry, then goes into how various megatrends such as globalization and climate change will influence the industry moving forward. The final chapter of the paper covers the implications of the above on skills needs and lifelong learning.
