Digital skills ambitions in action - Cedefop’s skills forecast digitalisation scenario

Cedefop's report presents a digital transition scenario under the assumption that the EU digitalisation and digital skills agenda is fully implemented. It predicts a small reduction in aggregate employment, mostly felt by the wholesale and retail trade and construction sectors, as well as substantial job creation in the areas of research and development, computer programming and telecommunications. The forecast also emphasises substantial investment needs in human capital through digital skills training, as well as uncertainties around the pace of AI and automation deployment.
