Description
The South African Transport Education Training Authority commissioned a study investigating the reskilling and upskilling needs for the transport sector. The study identified transport-related skills needs for growth in response to the fourth industrial revolution, suggested measures to close the gap between key skills demands and supplies, and provided insight on initiatives that support strategic skills development. It draws on data collected through desk research and stakeholder consultation, including an online survey, focus group discussions, and interviews. While the study focuses on the context of South Africa, the key findings provide general insights on the key drivers of change in the transport sector, the expected impacts these changes will have on skills needs and current skills development practices, and ways forward for addressing potential skills gaps.
