Addressing the challenges of the healthcare workforce: Ensuring the future of health in Europe

This policy brief by the European Policy Centre argues that the key to addressing the challenges of the health care sector is investment in the sector’s workforce. An important element of this is addressing existing skills gaps and preparing the sector for the green and digital transitions. The brief begins with background on what skills gaps exist and how these were exacerbated by COVID-19, as well as an overview of the current state of play. It ends with a call to established an EU training and competency framework for the sector, as well as EU- and national-level investment in upskilling and reskilling opportunities.
