Description

Using data from a recent Eurobarometer survey, this brief highlights companies' difficulties with adapting to skill shortages and evaluates strategies to mitigate negative effects. Use of automation, temporary contracts and abandonement of product lines tend to be more successful strategies to prevent negative turnover effects. Whilst training and upskilling strategies face challenges, especially in SMEs, these can be addressed by raising awareness of their importance and promoting collaborative learning initiatives.
